Kuwait tenders gas booster station project

State-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has tendered a project to install a condensate stabilisation unit at Booster Station 171 (BS-171).

The tender has been given the reference code RFP-2127795 and has a bid submission date of 25 November.

A meeting with contractors to discuss the project has been scheduled for 24 September.

Condensate stabilisation is a process that removes impurities from natural gas condensate, involving the separation of various components to achieve the desired level of purity and stability for transport.

The main component of a condensate stabilisation unit is a distillation column or tower. A heat exchanger may be used before the tower or column to heat up the feed gas.

Kuwait’s BS-171 was inaugurated in West Kuwait in 2018.

BS-171 processes associated gas from a range of oil fields through Gathering Centre 17 (GC-17), GC-27, and GC-28.

It also processes gas from Early Production Facility 18 (EPF-18).

BS-171 was the first booster station in Kuwait that was designed to deal with acid gas.

This was necessary because gas produced in West Kuwait is high in hydrogen sulphide.
